What Can We Learn From the Lafarge-Holcim Merger?

In April 2014 Lafarge and Holcim announced the merger of the two companies. The new entitiy will become the global cement leader operating in 90 countries. As a result of the merger Lafarge will sell its operations in Romania and Germany, and Holcim will sell its assets in Hungary and Serbia. The plan includes the sell of other factories in Europe in order for the new company to comply with EU anti-trust relgulations.
